Abu Dhabi, one of the Emirates in the UAE, is the capital city of the UAE. It is located in the southwest region of the United Arab Emirates along the southeastern coast. It became the capital city in 1971 after the United Arab Emirates got its independence from Britain. Although Abu Dhabi gained capital status in 1971, it was officially recognized as the capital in the 1990s. Abu Dhabi is the second most populous urban center in the United Arab Emirates. Over the years the city has grown from a small trading center to now a booming economy famous worldwide.
According to the 2017 statistics, Abu Dhabi has a population of 2,784,445 residents with 1,698,961 within the city center while 1,085,529 residents in the metropolitan area. The population of Abu Dhabi is comprised of many non-residents compared to the residents who are only 20% of the population. The city has a growth rate of 4.8% with most of the people attracted to the city for both recreational and business.
The city of Abu Dhabi has a lot to offer when it comes to tourist attraction sites. The city has placed itself among the best cities in regards to recreational activities. Abu Dhabi has the world’s fastest rollercoaster at the Ferrari World Park. The park is also the largest in the world. For the best cuisines and shopping, Abu Shabi's restaurants and shopping district is the place to visit. Abu Dhabi city has an endless list of tourist sites to visit. Abu Dhabi city experience a relatively dry and hot climate with minimal rainfall throughout the year. Rainfall is very little with February being the wettest month with an average of 20 millimeters. The warmest month in the city is August with an average of 36 degree Celsius while January is the coldest. The city also experiences strong winds with sandstorms common from late May to October. The best months to visit is from mid-November to March. The weather in the city favors outdoor activities.
