Liechtenstein Capital

The capital city of Liechtenstein is Vaduz. It is found in the electoral district of Oberland. Vaduz is located along the Rhine River in the central west of Liechtenstein. This city is historic, believed to have been founded around the year 1322. Despite being the capital city of Liechtenstein, Vaduz is not the largest city in the country, as the city of Schaan is technically larger. Vaduz has a flag which is a rectangular panel with two vertical red colors separated by a white one at the center.

By 2016, the approximate number of people in Vaduz was 5,500. With a total area of 17.3 squared kilometers, the population density is 288 people per kilometers squared.

The most prominent landmark in Vaduz is the Vaduz castle. The castle is home to the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein and his family. It is atop a steep hill and easily visible from any location in Vaduz. Other places of interest include the Peter Kaiser Square, the City Hall, and the Government House. Furt Liechtenstein Gemaldegalerie, which is also found in the town, displays famous world arts of the principality. These include works of 20th century painters. Other attractions include the Liechtenstein Center, the art gallery Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and Hofkellerei of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The city is also home to FC Vaduz, which is competing in the top Swiss league. They have an 8000-seater stadium called Rheinpark Stadion.

Vaduz has an oceanic climate with mild summers and cool winters. There is a noticeable precipitation increase during summertime. The coldest month in Vaduz is January. The hottest month is July.
