Modern standard Arabic originated from the classical Arabic language. The modern standard Arabic phonology is very precise and is written from left to right. Arabic contains 28 letters in its alphabet which was derived from the Aramaic script.
More than 90% of the population of Kuwait speaks standard Arabic. English is also widely spoken in Kuwait. Minority languages in Kuwait include Turkish, Farsi, and Hindi.
Useful Arabic phrases include "ahlan wa sahlan" for "welcome", "as-salām 'alaykum" for hello, and "kayfa ḥālak" for "how are you?"
Apart from the major languages spoken in Kuwait, there are many minor languages spoken in the country. These languages include Farsi, Hindi, and Tagalog.
