Located in North America, Bermuda is an island nation. It has a 103.00 km coastline.

The capital city of Bermuda is Hamilton which is a port city in Pembroke Parish. It was named after Governor Henry Hamilton, who served from 1788 to 1794. Hamilton replaced St. George as the capital in 1815. It has a small population as most of the people commute daily into the city from other parishes. A significant portion of Bermuda’s working population works in Hamilton where most of the businesses are located. Hamilton has a lot of activities, landmarks, museums and other attractions for tourists to enjoy. As it experiences a humid subtropical climate, it gets warm, humid summers with relatively mild winters and high rainfall for most of the year.

The government of Bermuda is a constitutional-monarchy with a democratic parliament as stated in the constitution which was adopted in 1968. Bermuda is the longest self-governing Britain overseas territory with a great degree of independence. The country has the world’s third oldest continuous parliament in the world. The current governor of Bermuda is John Rankin who has been in power since December 5, 2016. The current premier of Bermuda is David Burt who was appointed on July 19, 2017. The first house of assembly was held at the residence of the governor in 1620 until 1815 when it was moved to Sessions House. Sessions House, the current parliament building, was built in 1819. The Governor lives in the government residence along Langton Hill. The house of assembly representative members represenr their constituencies and can serve for a five-year term. As much as Bermuda is a multi-party country, the political scene has been dominated by only two parties.

Flag

The flag of Bermuda, which was adopted in 1910, symbolizes the history of the island. In fact, the coat of arm of the island symbolizes the courage of George Sommer who crushed the vessel intentionally to save hundreds of people on his ship who ended up becoming the first settlers on the island. The red color stands for strength and bravery. The white color symbolizes peace while the blue color symbolizes loyalty and justice. The red ensign flag of Bermuda was adopted after the country was given their coat of arms. Previously the island used a blue ensign flag alongside the Union Jack flag with the badge of Bermuda.
