The capital city of Barbados is Bridgetown. Formerly referred to as the town of Saint Michael, Bridgetown is the largest city in the Barbados. The greater part of Bridgetown is situated within the parish of Saint Michael. The current location of Bridgetown was established in 1628 by English settlers following the previous settlement under the directions of Sir William Courten. Bridgetown is located in the southwest part of the country.

Bridgetown is one of the most renowned tourist attraction cities in the Lesser Antilles. As one of the oldest cities in the country, Bridgetown is the home of the Barbados Museum which was formerly used as a British military prison. Some of the sites that make Bridgetown the best tourist attraction city include the Kensington Oval, Harrington’s cave, and the beautiful La Reina Park. The park, situated in the northeast part of the city, is referred to as the La Reina Park and is the home of two of the unique baobab tree species on the Island. Lovers of plants can visit the Hunte’s garden which is located about 4 miles away from Bathsheba Beach. Owned by Anthony Hunte, the garden has a unique array of colorful plants which will lighten the day of any visitor.
In Bridgetown, the hottest month of the year is in April which experiences an average of 27 degrees Celcius. The coldest month is January at 26 degrees Celsius with March having the longest sun hours of up to ten hours. The wettest month of the year is November with an average rainfall of over 206 mm. The city features a distinct dry and wet season with a short dry season and lengthy wet season. The best month for sunbathing and swimming is in August when the average temperature is 29 degrees Celsius.
